This is no sadistic thought but the shocking theme of an award winning, soul stirring and thought provoking movie called ‘Children of Men’.
Whoever said that “never judge a book by its cover or a movie by its title” was right. For ‘Children of Men’ is no conventional Sunday afternoon action movie. Nor is it just another sci-fi plot. A futuristic film, perhaps. A dystopian fiction, yes. Set in the 2027, the movie explores the scenario of a grim world in which two decades of global human infertility has left mankind paralyzed, with the human race fast reaching extinction. Surrounding it are darker forces of terrorism, environmental destruction and the battle of fleeting illegal immigrants seeking refuge under the last standing government.
Amidst these chaos is one precious life that is yet to be born…and which will decide the fate of mankind… one woman whose survival against all odds will redefine the entire human race’s future. The movie carries a message of hope and faith in desperate times and emphasis on the importance of valuing today’s children who are tomorrow’s future.
