New smartphone applications aim to give users an enhanced view of the world around them by combining camera, GPS and compass functions with information gleaned from the mobile Web. Augmented reality apps turn smartphones into viewfinders that combine the image of your surroundings with tagged information about where to restaurants, hotels, metro stops, etc.
You’re walking down the street, looking for a good place to eat. You hold up your cellphone and use it like the viewfinder on a camera, so the screen shows what’s in front of you. However, it also shows things you couldn’t see before: Brightly colored markers indicating nearby restaurants and bars.
Turn a corner, and the markers reflect the new scene. Click a marker for a restaurant, and you can see customer Boost customer satisfaction + retention with Salesforce.com Service Cloud 2. “Real treasure lies not in what can be seen, but what cannot be seen. Real love lies not in what is done and known, but in what that is done but not known. Love sometimes no need to say much.” An excerpt for an awesome inspirational short love story about the love of a mother for her child.
“Can I see my baby?” the happy new mother asked. When the bundle was nestled in her arms and she moved the fold of cloth to look upon his tiny face, she gasped. The doctor turned quickly and looked out the tall hospital window.
The baby had been born without ears. Time proved that the baby’s hearing was perfect. It was only his appearance that was marred. When he rushed home from school one day and flung himself into his mother’s arms, she sighed, knowing that his life was to be a succession of heartbreaks. He blurted out the tragedy. “A boy, a big boy…called me a freak.”
People don’t neglect backing up their computers because it’s hard—it isn’t, at all. No, people file into the inevitable death march of data loss for one reason: Backing up usually costs money. But it doesn’t have to.
When your concerned friends and family insist that you have to back your data up (as anyone who’s seen my atrociously beaten-down laptop in the last few months has done to me) they’re effectively telling you two things: That backing up your data will save you a massive headache in the future, because more likely the not, your hard drive will fail; and, less bluntly, that you need to buy a hard drive. And who wants to do that? It’s hard to lay out the cash for a backup hard drive, since the payoff is uncertain, and (hopefully) far away. It’s a good investment—not an easy one.
The good news is, most of us cheapskates can still keep our most important files safe without spending a dime, or wasting more than a few minutes. Continue Reading »

If you are one of the 150 million members who logs in to Facebook everyday invariably to connect with friends, ex colleagues, acquaintances, college mates, school buddies or business associates, give yourself a pat on your back for contributing to Facebook’s rising popularity.
When Facebook made a quiet debut in social networking market in early February 2004, it was just another entrant in a pack. Originated in the dorms of Harvard University by founder Mark Zuckerberg and his friends, within 24 hours, 1,200 Harvard students had signed up on Facebook and soon after that the network was quickly extended to other colleges and universities.
The site was super simple but its allure lay in its exclusiveness. Its restricted access to University students only, tempted non users to know what it was like. Soon, the buzz caught on with everyone around the world getting curious to be a part of it and see how Facebook worked. Continue Reading »
