Like this aptly called ‘public loo’ in Switzerland! Rest assured, your privacy still remains – it’s a one-sided view glass, allowing you to see without being seen. Thank God the designers didn’t put the glass the other way around!

Google Co-founder Sergey Brin has launched personal blog TOO located @ too.blogspot.com.

In his first blog post, he tries to explain the blog name: “Welcome to my personal blog. While Google is a play on googol, too is a play on the much smaller number – two. It also means “in addition”, as this blog reflects my life outside of work.”

How to Fight Inflation?

InflationA man eats two eggs each morning for breakfast.  When he goes to the Provision store he pays Rs. 12 a dozen.  Since a dozen eggs won’t last a week he normally buys two dozens at a time. One day while buying eggs he notices that the price has risen to Rs. 16. The next time he buys groceries, eggs are Rs. 22 a dozen.

When asked to explain the price of eggs the store owner says, “The price has gone up and I have to raise my price accordingly”. These store buys 100 dozen eggs a day. He checked around for a better price and all the distributors have raised their prices. The distributors have begun to buy from the huge egg farms.  The small egg farms have been driven out of business.  The huge egg farms sell 100,000 dozen eggs a day to distributors.  With no competition, they can set the price as they see fit. The distributors then have to raise their prices to the grocery stores. And on and on and on.

Considered one of the most important works of the modern age, this brilliant literary work has convincingly beat five other shortlisted works from the competition’s 40-year-old history.

And what makes this award even more special for the book is that it has received the ultimate accolade this time — the public’s vote. An online poll conducted saw readers pouring in their votes via internet and sms, casting a total of 36% majority win for Rushdie. Incidentally, it seems at least half of the voters were under the age of 35 – a reflection of the ongoing interest in quality fiction amongst younger generation.
