43 Things

43things.com is a website that allows users to share and track their to-do lists. If I were to define it further, then it is a social networking website which is built on the principles of tagging, rather than creating explicit inter-personal links (a.k.a. Orkut or Linkedin).

At the risk of sounding geekish, users create accounts and then list a number of goals or hopes; these goals are parsed by a lexer and connected to other people’s goals that are constructed with similar words or ideas. This concept is also known as folksonomy. (I slip in to Geekspeak now and then – so bear me)

What makes us review 43things.com is that it is this very tagging feature that make it a website worth creating your list on. Once you create your list, each and every goal of yours is linked to people who have similar goals or who have achieved this goal. This allows you a great chance to learn from other people’s experience and also see how others have fared in this goal.

Somewhere deep down, it gives a satisfaction, that you are not the only one to have such a goal. There are other dreamersĀ on this planet like you.

Besides, the mere act of putting down your goal in writing propels your subconcious into moving towards achieving it. I know it sounds too gushy but it is a fact. Talking from personal experience.

So go ahead and create your 43things.com. And trust me you shall not regret it.
