Are any of these the Web’s next big thing?

Paris, France (CNN) — With more than 2,000 Internet movers and shakers, the LeWeb conference in Paris is an ideal spot for start-up ventures to hoping to attract the investment and attention that will propel them to Twitter or Facebook-style success.

A series of stalls across the venue — a giant arts complex converted from a disused morgue — saw fresh-faced entrepreneurs demonstrating gadgets and applications they insisted will change the way we interface with the Internet.

These might just be the inventions that everyone will be talking about next year or they could simply slip below the radar. Either way, all will face the same question still being leveled at today’s household names — can they make money?

While most insisted they could generate genuine revenue for their start-ups, others were more even-handed about their prospects.

“Will it be successful? No one knows,” Sarel Omer, one of the brains behind “social productivity tool” TicTacDo.com, told CNN. “The important thing is we believe in it.”

There were too many on display at LeWeb to detail them all here, but here’s a handful:

So, just how safe is India?

The first thing your morning newspaper greets you with is a tainted picture of how India today actually is.

Maoists attacks. Train hijacks & Dacoit loots. Public feud between pilots and air hostesses. Fire mishaps at petroleum depot. Alarming rate of train accidents.

Political vendetta. Family business feuds turning into horrifying tales. Unchecked crime rates that seem to indicate a growing tendency towards lack of remorse.

And a Government that seems to be struggling to save its face amidst all this.

Even as the Government and allies debate and strategize on how to up the country’s security measures in the aftermath of terror attacks and threats, what we need to really first ask ourselves is – how safe is India anymore from within?

Security is no longer a given for citizens. And the critical question facing every individual is, when your environment is not safe, you seek shelter at home, but when your home is not safe then where do you go?…

But do you have the right elements and information on your blog? What information should be on your blog? When visitors arrive at your blog, what information are they looking for?

This article will walk you through what should be on your blog and what information your visitors want to see.

Before we look at the elements that your blog should have, for the purpose of this article let’s assume two rules:

Every visitor to your blog is arriving there for the first time.
You will have a maximum of five seconds to make the following information available to them: who you are, what you do, and your contact information.

Multilingual web address system approved

SEOUL (AFP) – A global regulatory body Friday approved a new multilingual address system which it said would open up the Internet to millions more people worldwide.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced an end to the exclusive use of Latin characters for website addresses.

In future it will be possible to write an entire website address in any of the world’s language scripts.

With the introduction of “internationalised” domain names (IDNs), scripts such as Chinese, Korean or Arabic will eventually be usable in the last part of an address name — the part after the dot, as in .com and .org.

At present, technological restrictions mean all domain names end in letters from the Latin alphabet.

Nature strikes back!

It was long overdue. The way we have been mistreating our planet it was only a matter of time before nature would unleash her fury. The repercussions of our own irresponsibility in nurturing and protecting the world we live in, is

now manifesting in the form of unforeseen rain havocs and devastating floods. The price we have to pay for disturbing nature’s balance.
The impact is heart wrenching. But sadly enough, the figures still continue to grow grossly every year, indicating how indifferent humans still are to disasters happening around them.

View more presentations from 212phi.

Roman Group is a rapidly growing business conglomerate with extensive strengths in Construction, Electronic, Chemical and Engineering Technologies. Over the years, the organisation has diversified into various verticals offering a broad spectrum of services.

When a group company has such a diverse spread of business areas under its umbrella, its best to showcase what makes the company what it is, rather than focusing on what it does.

Here, we have taken a very unconventional approach to do this. We have totally done away with images and made the space interesting through a strong mix of typography treatment and vibrant colours to bring out the USPs of Roman Group. Continue Reading »
